This document ensures consistent and accurate labeling of insulated glass (IG) units. Proper labeling is significant because:
This process maintains manufacturing consistency, reduces errors, ensures compliance with safety standards, and enables efficient order fulfillment.
Original Label: A label placed on the clear side of the IG unit, approximately 2-3 inches from both edges of the top right corner, identifying the glass unit.
Wildfire Label: A sticker applied to units designed to withstand extreme heat without shattering, where one lite is tempered and the other is annealed.
Tempered Label: A sticker applied to units where both lites have been heat-treated to increase strength and safety, causing the glass to break into small pebbles rather than sharp shards.
Hard-coat Label: A sticker identifying units with a hard-coat low-e coating (a touchable energy-efficient coating) that requires special cleaning considerations.
